Tameika Garrett-Ward

Tameika Garrett-Ward is a lifelong East Orange resident and a pillar of public service, serving the 4th Ward since 2019. Her family’s legacy in the city spans over 90 years.

Her career began with roles in youth employment and aquatic safety for the East Orange Recreation Department, where she ultimately served as Aquatic Director and Coordinator for 26 years. Garrett-Ward co-coached an award-winning youth swim team and led innovative programming, such as Autistic Swim & Safety Lessons, earning a statewide recreation award.

In 2024, she chaired the Planning & Grants Committee and has served on multiple other boards including Arts, Recreation & Cultural Affairs, Health, and Public Safety. Her leadership reflects a lifelong dedication to service, community safety, and inclusive youth programming.

A proud wife, mother of six, and grandmother of two, Tameika Garrett-Ward is deeply rooted in family, driven by purpose, and committed to a stronger, more united East Orange.
