Marcelino "Moose" Trillo

Roseland Council

Marcelino “Moose” Trillo is a dedicated educator and community advocate representing Roseland on its Borough Council since 2019. Residing in Roseland for 14 years with his wife, Laura, and their three children—two boys and one daughter attending Lester C. Noecker Elementary—he grounds his public service in both experience and family values.

Originally from Kearny, NJ, Moose graduated from Seton Hall Prep and went on to earn a Bachelor's in History & Political Science and a Master’s in Secondary Social Studies Education from Rutgers, followed by a Master’s in Educational Administration from Saint Peter’s College.

He currently serves as Vice Principal at Robert Treat Academy Charter School in Newark, a role he’s held for 20 years. During that time, he’s served as an instructional assistant, elementary and middle school teacher, gifted & talented coordinator, placement director, and extended-day coordinator.

Moose stepped into local leadership out of a sense of civic responsibility and a desire to model active community engagement for his children. On the Council, he chairs the Recreation Committee and serves as Vice Chair of the Family & Health Services and Finance & Administration Committees. He also acts as Borough Liaison to Senior Programming, the Board of Education, and Camp.

An active coach in youth sports and serving on boards such as the NJ Charter School Association, the James A. Pinaire III Foundation, and the Roseland Cub Scout Committee, Councilman Trillo brings intentional leadership, educational insight, and a passion for community well-being to his role.
