Jenny Mundell
Bloomfield Mayor
Jenny Mundell is a dedicated public servant, storyteller, and Bloomfield’s first female Mayor. With deep roots in community building and communication, her leadership reflects both progressive vision and pragmatic results.
After graduating from Penn State and earning an MA from Montclair State University—where she honed her storytelling skills—Jenny began her career in community relations at Montclair. She later transitioned to the healthcare nonprofit sector and now serves as Vice President of Development at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. As Mayor, Jenny has delivered tangible results:
Launched regular senior programming at the Oakeside Cultural Center
Redeveloped Bloomfield Center for smart growth and added the Community Farmers Market with SNAP access
Initiated the Bloomfield CARES Unit, embedding social workers within the police department for community support
Championed the revitalization of the Children’s Library and senior services
Organized biennial town-wide cleanups and led women’s history and social justice initiatives
Raised over $100K for local nonprofits and introduced microbrewery ordinances to spur downtown business growth
Jenny lives in Bloomfield with her husband and son. Her combination of communication, community-led initiatives, and delivery-driven leadership reflect deep experience, credibility, and trusting relationships across her community.
