Dr. Dale G. Caldwell
for Lieutenant Governor
Dr. Dale G. Caldwell is an Ivy League-educated leader, accomplished author, and city pastor. He currently serves as the 15th President of Centenary University, making history as the institution’s first Black president, a milestone he reached in 2023. In 2025, he is running for Lieutenant Governor alongside Mikie Sherrill.
Inspired by a legacy of civil rights advocacy—his father marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—Caldwell graduated from Princeton University (BA) in 1982, earned an MBA in Finance from Wharton (University of Pennsylvania) in 1988, and completed an EdD in Educational Administration at Seton Hall University in 2017.
His career spans leadership roles in public education and community development—he served as President of the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey from 2001 to 2024 and helped launch the College Achieve Charter School in Asbury Park.
He also served as a school board member in New Brunswick for over two decades and now serves as pastor at Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield, NJ.
Caldwell’s lifelong commitment to education, equity, and faith-driven community service makes him a grounded and visionary choice to serve New Jersey families.
