Cleopatra Tucker

Cleopatra Tucker is a longtime public servant, community advocate, and trailblazing legislator representing New Jersey’s 28th Legislative District in the General Assembly since 2008. With decades of experience in public service and civic engagement, she is known for championing policies that support veterans, seniors, and working families across the state.
Before joining the Assembly, Tucker served as the Executive Director of the Newark Department of Health and Human Services Division of Senior Services and as Executive Director of the Newark Housing Authority’s Senior Citizen Division, where she worked to expand housing opportunities and essential services for older residents.
In the legislature, she has been a driving force for veterans’ rights, introducing bills to improve access to health care, expand job opportunities, and honor the sacrifices of those who served. Tucker has also been a strong advocate for senior citizens, affordable housing, education, and public safety.
A Newark resident with deep ties to her community, Tucker is committed to ensuring that every New Jerseyan—regardless of age, background, or income—has the opportunity to live with dignity and security.
Her leadership is grounded in her belief that government should be responsive, compassionate, and accountable to the people it serves.
