Alixon Collazos-Gill
General Assembly- 27th District
Alixon Collazos-Gill, a community leader and public advocate with roots from Colombia, has lived in Montclair for many years. She completed her education at Long Branch High School, and obtained a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Latin American Literature from Rutgers University–Newark. In 2024, she made history by becoming one of the newest members of the New Jersey General Assembly, representing the 27th Legislative District.
Driven by her immigrant background, Collazos-Gill launched her public service career at New Jersey Network, where she participated in civic-focused programs. She spent seven years in Congressman Steve Rothman's district office, serving as director of constituent services. She later contributed significantly to Governor Phil Murphy’s campaign outreach and co-founded a government affairs firm specializing in cannabis regulation.
As a first-term legislator, Assemblywoman Collazos-Gill offers both grassroots experience and a new perspective in Trenton. She is a member of three key Assembly committees—Children, Families & Food Security, Environment & Natural Resources, and Regulated Professions—and champions issues important to New Jersey families.
Collazos-Gill resides in Montclair with her husband and two children. Her journey—from immigrant to Assemblywoman—is rooted in service, advocacy, and a deep dedication to giving back to the communities that have shaped her.
