Dr. Charnette Frederic was born in Cazal, Haiti, where she completed her primary education at Saint Trinitė and later attended College Saint Pierre, a secondary school. Dr. Charnette Frederic was born in Cazal, Haiti, where she completed her primary education at Saint Trinitė and later attended College Saint Pierre, a secondary school. In 1996, she reunited with her father in Irvington, NJ, alongside her twin brothers and mother.


Dr. Frederic's academic journey is a testament to her resilience and determination. It began with an associate degree in Biology from Essex County College in 1999. She continued to pursue her passion, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Rutgers University in 2001. She obtained a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) from Seton Hall University in 2005. Dr. Frederic's commitment to learning is further exemplified by her achievement of a doctorate in Chemistry from Seton Hall University in 2024.


From 2002 to 2018, Dr. Frederic served as a Senior Scientist at Roche Molecular Systems, a division of Hoffmann-La Roche, Diagnostic Company. From 2018 to 2022, she assumed the role of QC Manager at Novartis. She is currently a senior supervisor at the Quality Control Lab at Johnson and Johnson.


Dr. Charnette Frederic began her public service in Irvington Township after being elected West Ward Council Member on May 8, 2012. She was elected Councilwoman-at-Large on May 13, 2014, and served as Council President from July 1, 2014, to July 1, 2016. She was re-elected for the 2018–2022 term and currently serves a term from 2022–2026, reflecting continued community trust in her leadership.


Beyond her political endeavors, Dr. Frederic is committed to community engagement and has received numerous awards for her contributions to Irvington. She established the Charnette Frederic Civic Association, a non-profit organization aimed at promoting community involvement and celebrating unity. Additionally, she spearheaded sustainability efforts in Irvington through the Irvington Green Team. Currently, she is serving on the board of trustees of Sustainable Jersey and Irvington Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Frederic's commitment reaches beyond local communities. She served as the Chairwoman of the National Haitian American Elected Officials Network (NHAEON) from 2022 to 2024. NHAEON, the largest network of Haitian American elected and appointed officials in the U.S., is dedicated to empowering communities through advocacy and leadership.


Dr. Frederic is happily married to Joseph Betissan Frederic and is a proud mother to their son. She is known for her ability to mobilize communities and advocate for meaningful causes; Dr. Frederic remains deeply passionate about serving the Irvington community and beyond.
